Photo Hunter: Self

: Self
I have taken every self photo myself...
It is hard when you are the only photographer in the house.
I do my best and actually have a lot of fun with it. :)

This one in paticular was a hard one to take, because I had to hold the camera and sew at the same time. I do wish it would have turned out a little better though...maybe I will try it again sometime. :)

Almost Finished!!

Just need to finish the handles and sew the button on and add the label and it is finished!!

Off to finish up and then start on something new. :)

Frog and Toad

We went and saw a play put on by The Portland Eastside Christian Youth Theatre. (say that ten times fast!) The play was Frog and Toad. It was pretty cute. The photos aren't very good sorry. But the pic above is of the kids before the play.
This is the first scene...Frog and the birds singing. Pretty cute.

Funny how the guy who played the snail moved so slow yet when I tried to get his picture it came out all blurry... He was the favorite I have to say and his first song he sang was hilarious!
This was taken near the end of the show...heading into winter. That is supposed to be Toad sledding. They did well.
And after the show...kids are tired, hungry and ready to go home. :)
An eventful kind of day...I'm tired. I wish we could have seen Charlie Brown...maybe next time.
Well, it's about 3:00pm and I have the kids down to rest a bit before their dad gets home...maybe I will let them watch the netflix movie that came yesterday. I love Netflix!!!!

Hope everyone else had a good day also :)

Taking a Break...

There is a chill in the air today and the green on the trees out back are brighter then usual from the rain that gently falls from the sky. You know the kind of rain that is so fine in size that when you step out in it you are soaked within minutes.
I think it is beautiful!
I thought I would share what I have been up to the last couple hours or so.
This is made with some old vintage paisley fabric I had on hand.
I don't know if I can get another one out of it...I am happy with how it turned out.

This is what is being worked on now.

I am just taking a break...Need to get dinner started, my husband will be home any time now and the kids are getting hungry. It will most likely be a late night for me, but I am glad that I have gotten things accomplished finally.
I need to get the handbags I have cut out sewn together and then I need to start on some other items...I have a few ideas, praying I can figure them out and actually get them done.

My Day...

Wow, can garage sales tire you out!!
I'm beat!! This was our little set up...we did alright...
will have to have another one though. :)
And I have seriously tried to catch a Blue Heron in our back yard the last few times I have seen him and well this is all I could get...
Can you see him?
I had to crop the photo a few times...

And there he goes over the neighbor's house...

One day my feathered friend...One day!!

PhotoHunter: Shoes

I have come to love shoes...these are my newest and one of these days when it isn't so wet and is a bit warmer I will get some use out of them. Funny thing is I would rather be in my comfortable Vans then heels, but I can't stop buying the cute heels!!! I think it's an addiction.

So this is my newest work and I love it but it was already sold before I even put it all together! The only thing the buyer knows is what fabric was used, she doesn't know what it was going to look like...HECK! I didn't even know until I started doing it! ; )
So can I call it a custom job?

I pulled some fabric and combined some pieces that caught my eye...now to start cutting and sewing them all together...I do love doing a bag at a time and making them one of a kind, it keeps me motivated, I am not one to like repetition.

Been having fun with my photography lately just pushing myself to do better and take my time thinking about the subject matter and what needs to be done to get the perfect shot. Have been encouraged by other pro photographers and that has been a huge deal for me.
Candy...
Well I am really tired and need to go to bed or something, which will be really hard to do because my husband is having band practise right now and it is always loud. I will see what I can do maybe I will read a bit.

Good night and Good week to you!

Mother's Day weekend was a busy one.
First off we left Friday night to head over to Reedsport where my family is living, well in the process of living. It was a scary drive with stupid people on the road, road rage and an accident. And then driving roads we have never driven on before in the pitch black...scary, but we finally made it about midnight.
This was our day Saturday...lots of misty soaking rain. So didn't get to see much. The kids and my husband and brother and dad all heading out to the beach...that was before the fog and rain showed up. And us girls, my mom, grandma, sister-in-law and myself headed into Florence to a tea house that my mom had said was really good. So that was our Mother's Day gift.
This sign was in OLD TOWN Florence...thought it was funny.
This is a photo of my mom and grandma's hands. I was in awe of how my hands look just like theirs.
We had High Tea which consisted of two tea sandwiches, scones, a salad, a small bite size piece of cake (I forgot what it was called) and tea of choice. I had the Imperial Gunpowder tea...it was really good! And the cream cheese salmon with dill and the other choice was cream cheese with blue cheese and pear...that one was interesting and usually comes with walnuts but I don't eat nuts.
Oh my little niece came also and took a short nap on gramme's shoulder.
We got back and my brother showed me some of the sand dollars they had found...ALL of them whole!! This was the smallest one they found. So perfect.

Here are the 7 cousins minus 1...I was holding her while I took the pictures of the kids. They all had a really good time together...can't wait to be able to do it again.

On our way out of town I took this photo...

It was so blue and grey and the rain didn't stop. We ended up driving up 101 in dense fog and rain...not at all fun when it is pitch black and you can barely see anything in front of you. The trip home was stressful until we hit I-5 near Corvallis. So next time we will drive during the day and we will use a real map and not the map off Google maps.

Now it will be the rest of the week before I can get back to some kind of normal. I am not one that likes to travel. And I haven't felt very good the last few days. My husband was home with a migraine today also. Hoping to feel better before the heat shows up on Wednesday.

My Etsy Shop will be closed for a month or so.
All of my handbags are heading for the Oregon Coast this weekend to be placed in a little shop. I will be adding new items to my etsy shop as soon as I am able.
See ya on the other side : )

In case I don't get on here in the next few days...

Have a great weekend!!
Procrastination + me = an unproductive day.

I am so frustrated with myself right now. All these plans I have and I can't get myself motivated to do any of it. So now I will probably be up late working on the list. Should be doing something right now but yet I am sitting here. Things around me seem to be overwhelming and I just don't know where to start. The house is cluttered...I hate clutter! Still have some laundry to do, but that is a never ending fight so guess I'm ok with that. Our bedroom is almost finished, but I don't know what we will do until we get our new bed. And just look at our back yard!! There are tons of birds in the grass but you can't see them because in some places the grass is over two feet tall!!! We started getting things cleaned up...that is why the toy and picinic table are in the middle of the yard. We have a lot to do...You don't want to see our porch which is full of bikes, chairs, toys, and a fuzeball table.

I hope that this stage I am going thru will end soon because I am tired of not getting anything done around here...it really does drive me crazy!!

I long for simplicity, I'll let you know when I find it. ; )

The Challenges of a Photo Shoot

Yesterday I did a little photo shoot for my sister-in-law and her husband. They wanted pictures of their new little guy. He was awake, so most of the time it was hit and miss with the pictures. But I think we got a pretty good handful out of all of them.
The photo above is one of my favorites!
The lighting was perfect, the model was perfect...and it looks so good in black & white.
He was so good for his Auntie!
Maybe I should start making a portfolio of my best work. It might help for anything that comes along in my future. So note to self: save up some money and get some solid prints done for a book.
The weekend was pretty nice...it was in the 70's on Sunday and yesterday was the warmest by far! My allergies seem to be getting a little better.
Today isn't as warm and it is cloudy and looks like it might sprinkle out there...So today I will try my best to get things done in the house...We are picking up a Cali King mattress set this weekend and I need to get our bedroom in order so that we will be able to set it up. I can't wait!!! Also get to go see my parents and grandparents for the day! Us girls are going to a tea house as a mother's day gift. It will be nice. I will make sure to take lots of pictures of course.
Ok time to stop procrastinating. Have a beautiful day!

The photos turned out great! (read last post) Still have to see them...

I should get to see them framed this week sometime.

I have also been asked to take some photos tonight

of my new nephew and his mommy and daddy.

I will most likely put them up at my flickr when I am done of course.

It will probably take a few hours to make sure the baby is ready for all of it.

Should be a nice time...Heck a break from my noisy home is always a good thing.

The sun and warmth has finally come out in all of it's glory...must open up doors and curtains to let it all in! Also need to get things done around here as always...what a never ending battle, I lose everytime it seems.

Get out and enjoy the beauty that is all around you!

Did a photo shoot for a family today!
This was my first and I think it went pretty well despite the rain.

I took the pictures at one of the parks down the street.

This is one of my favorites

They are getting prints today and I am hoping they like all the pics.

Feeling better now, I was nervous before I went, don't know why I do that every time I go to do something that isn't in my comfort zone. Stepping out is a good thing. Gotta get more confident.

We headed out the door today in the bright morning sun to go over to Bob's Red Mill Grand Opening! They allowed the community to come and take a tour of their new (a few years old) warehouse...all 7 acres of it!!! So incredible to see that much grain.
The kids had a great time...walking thru all the sections of the warehouse and watching the people and machines at work packaging and preping. Seemed like such a simple process and everyone was so nice. Big J even got to tell Bob and his wife thank you for letting us come into his warehouse. They are the cutest couple. : ) I love that they are apart of their business and so kind and always around. We also have the store down the street where I have seen Bob walking around. It is nice to live so close to all of this. So here are some photos...sorry they seem blurry...I had a cup of coffee...I guess I had the shakes a little. : (
This pic of Big J in front of the grain bag was marked as Gleaning for the Hungry. So very cool. There were a few shelves of these bags.

Way bigger then Costco ; )

In the end we got a goody bag with Pancake/Waffle mix and Scottish Oatmeal.
And the tour guide gave the kids a Gluten Free bag of Creamy Rice Hot Cereal right off the line!! It is only shipped to Canada!!! It has French on one side and English on the other...We were so excited about that one!!! hu, should have had Bob and his wife sign it...darn it.
