Putting away the old and bringing in the new

Looks like the sewing machine and fabric will be laid to rest and the crocheting needles and yarn will be coming out. Yesterday I ordered a bunch of yarn that was on sale and a pack of crochet needles. There is a plan I just don't have all details right now. I am going to be looking at places and maybe some charities that need hats and blankets. Might even have a few in my etsy shop to hopefully help in future purchases needed to replenish that which has been used up.
I want to give and help those who are in need and making these hats and blankets might be a good start.

Our snow is as if it never were. We have had some major down pours of rain the last few days. But the sun is shining and the sky is blue with white fluffy clouds here and there. Hoping it will warm up more and that the snow will be done with until the end of next year. I am ready for Spring. : )

Just got the book "Have a New Kid by Friday" by Dr. Kevin Leman. We will see how well it goes.
Today isn't a very good day, lots of whining and complaining.

I am not ready for the new year...at least I am not excited to head into it, not knowing what the outcome will be from what we have done in 2008 to ourselves. My spirit is saddened by everything including Christmas, things just seem different and not just because of the lack of money (I'm used to not having money) and the snow storm that took power and the ability to get out of our homes for a week, but there is something more. I can't put my finger on it...the only thing I can do is make sure that I am living my life as I should, that my eyes are continually on the Lord and that my relationship is strong with Him. He is the only one that can give me contentment in this crazy world everything else won't be there in the end.
We must continue to encourage our brothers and sisters in love and with the Word. Because many will become discouraged and are discouraged at this time.
It is time to do away with material things. That sounds like something you would find in Ecclesiastes 3.
Verse 6 says, "A time to gain, A time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away."

2 Peter 3:9-14
9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long suffering toward us,[a] not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
The Day of the Lord 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.[b] 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
Be Steadfast 14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;

Merry Christmas!

These are a couple of my most favorite pieces of art!

I think this would be the perfect home for the winter. You would have the best of both worlds!
I told my husband last year that this is what I wanted for Christmas. One could only hope. ; )

I do wish everyone a wonderful Christmas full of joy and laughter!!!
You are in my thoughts on this beautiful snowy day.
Much love to all of you!!

Over night goodness...well it's alright as long as it doesn't stick around for to much longer. ; )
I don't think I will be going anywhere soon...this was taken a short time ago...the van has way more snow on it now!! But the snow flakes are getting smaller, still coming down a whole lot but it should taper off soon...I still think we will be getting more this afternoon though.

I sent the kids out so that I could have a photo with them in it.
They aren't heavy enough to totally sink to the ground but they were awfully cute.
The natives are stir crazy I need to go but just wanted to share.

December 21, 2008

This is what we had last night...it was bright out side even though it was late at night when I took these. We got up to about 8 inches or even more before the freezing rain hit! There are so many roads closed today it's craziness.
So my sister-in-law and my husband's parents lost power so my man decided to go out and get them this morning...he isn't back yet. Hopefully everything is alright and they will get power soon. Not having power with a baby isn't a good thing.
Everything is so icy.
Yesterday we ventured over to their home because we needed to do something and couldn't take the kids with us. And then everyone went out and played in the snow...I didn't have my camera but I used my mother-in-law's camera so when she gets power maybe I will be able to get the photos. It was funny because all the adults were playing and the kids were inside...along with me...I don't like playing in it anymore.
I did hurt my lower back on the right side and am really sore this morning. Don't know how I did it but I have a really sore spot on the right side on my hip bone in the back...can hardly walk. : (
Anywho it is gorgeous out and I am hoping that tomorrow will warm up a bit so the ice melts off so that my husband can make it to work.
Off to get some more things done. Have a great and safe day!

New Dress and Painted Ornaments

I told myself a few months ago that I was going to try and make my girl a dress for Christmas.
I finally did it yesterday. Didn't have a pattern to use so did my best to figure it all out with what little I had.
I am pleased with the outcome of it and she thinks it's absolutely wonderful!
I used a really soft corduroy fabric...it is almost velvety.

And this morning I allowed (yup, as an artistic person it is really hard to let them do what they want when it comes to crafts) The first is my oldest son's he did it all by himself, I love the pearly paints he used. Second one is mid. son's ornament, all I can think is Charlie Brown...if he used yellow instead of blue. cute. and lastly my daughter's mitten, she likes to use all the colors, I did paint the heart though.
So that is what is going on. The snow has all melted away...at least in our little area...but they say it is going to freeze, which means all the water sitting on the road will be solid for tomorrows commuters. I am glad the weekend is almost here and Christmas is only 7 days away!!!!
I have been waiting and waiting but it just doesn't feel like Christmas this year for me...the excitement that always overwhelms me each year isn't there. Don't know why I feel so melancholy.
Usually I love staring at the tree and all the lights around the area but they just seem worthless this year. I know that the tree and lights aren't what Christmas really means to me but...oh I don't know it is just different this year. Hoping to get excited the closer we get to next Thursday.
Many blessings on your day my friends!

Estate Sale and Winter Wonderland

We went to our first estate sale on Saturday because my sister-in-law had called and told me that there was a ton of fabric and stuff. Well I was good and didn't add to my fabric collection...really nothing caught my attention. But there were two boxes of patterns!!! I wanted to buy all of them but couldn't, they were a little spendy for my taste but this is what I came away with and I am excited to maybe concur them down the road. The four to the right are from 1959 and the one on the bottom left is a 1969 pattern!! And I was so excited to find that they were in my size!! The two at the top left are for young girls and are extremely cute!! And I think they were all never used...maybe when the people do another sale I will be able to go and get some more. The house that this all took place in was so cool!!! And there were many other things that I "didn't need" but would have loved to buy.

Our Sunday morning started out like this...

Church was cancelled sadly so chained up the VW and headed over to the In-Law's house so the kids could play with their friends and grandparents. Everything was so beautiful outside. I am not one to play in the snow with everyone...not my thing and my toes were freezing which isn't a good thing. Had a past frost bite and every time I get out in the cold like that I can't feel a few of my toes. I'd rather just watch everyone and take pictures then sneak back inside where it's warmer. ; )

This I just through in because I made it and I love the rustic look of it.
Off to do something productive. Have a blessed day!

December 8, 2008

I can not believe my oldest is over half the size of the tree this year!! Craziness I tell ya! And who knows where he got that shiner. We asked him and he had no clue either. hmmm

We always go over the the in-laws to decorate their Christmas tree with them and the kids take turns each year putting the angel on top...Well as you can see she didn't quite fit this year. So what do the guys do to fix it??? They bring out the big boy toys. We were all so nervous that they were going to clip the light wires but it was all successful and she is standing up straight now. No fallen angel here. ; )
There is no snow around here but we could see some in the hills this weekend they say...I will believe it when I see it. One side of me wants to see the beautiful white stuff on the ground and the other side doesn't because I want my husband to be able to make it to work safely and ya, we want the roads clear for driving safely that is all.
I was feeling bad because school hasn't really gotten done this last week but then I was thinking about everything that the kids have done and after reading Emily's blog re: the same thing...well I realized that they have had music, art, science, math and reading even if they didn't have it all in a work book they still were learning something new. So I don't think there should be any guilt felt on the situation. Home Ec Emily Home Ec. : D
Well off to clean up the house before game night tonight with our friends. We eat and play poker (no money involved) it is a lot of fun.

No One is The Same!!

As I was going through my emails today I came across this website and thought I should share with you. This is all about the snowflake, they even show you what you need for taking these beautiful photos and how they are taken.
I know this is probably old news to some but I got all excited when I found it.
